Vitamins are organic compounds the body needs in small amounts, but not produced by the body. That’s why we get it from outside the body by choosing healthy foods.

In general, vitamins are classified into water-soluble vitamins, namely vitamins B and C, also fat soluble vitamins, namely vitamins A, D, E, and K.

The process of metabolism and excretion of fat soluble vitamins is slower than water-soluble vitamins. When we consume too much vitamins, there will be side effects and even toxic effects. In certain vitamins, it will be beneficial when they are consumed simultaneously. Vitamin A and C, for example, is preventing the damage caused by oxidation. In addition, the study also said that supplements of vitamin C can increase plasma levels of vitamin E, and vice versa.

However, taking supplements of vitamin E along with other antioxidants such as vitamin C, beta-carotene and selenium, can trigger an interaction with Simvastatin and niacin. Both are drugs indicated for lowering cholesterol levels. That is, taking vitamins and medicine together will reduce levels of good cholesterol (HDL). That’s why, it is better to consult with your doctor when you want to eat some kinds of vitamins simultaneously.
